About the artist
“Dank U
It was the only word I could pronounce at the presentation of my 1st prize at the Knokke drawing academy in Belgium. I was 10 years old. Since that day, drawing has never left me.
Born in Bergerac, in the Lot-et-Garonne region of France, my roots run deep in the land of my ancestors. Intimately linked to Nature, an infinite source of inspiration and wonder, I have now decided to devote myself fully to my passions and define myself as a multidisciplinary, cross-disciplinary artist, an inveterate self-taught artist in perpetual quest of new knowledge and experimentation. From sculpture in 2017 at Château Rayne Vigneau, through 4×3 acrylic frescoes in nursery schools, apprenticeships with artist Nadine Denjean, long periods of personal maturation to finally define my personal creative universe: capturing emotion in the eyes of my living models. Transcribing Life through portraiture, a creative process that is now well established.
Sketching HB my hand twirls quickly, the line is lively and powerful, the outlines appear. Then a soft wash, repeated over and over in multiple layers, fleshes out the model. Then Indian ink will enhance the whole before being followed by black stone, pastel or perhaps acrylic. The final touch is the look. Always the last to represent the spark of the soul.
I’m currently experimenting with my own technique, using a very organic, sensitive and lively approach to acrylics in my current contemporary Gaïa collection. In fact, since childhood I’ve been fascinated by observing the abundance of life in the plant world, with its interlacing of delicate hyphae offering living, polymorphous tableaux that are always different.
Finally, a return to the earth, to my roots in learning ceramics: my hands in the material here and now, in the present moment, enable me to reach a meditative state and a tangible, intimate inner peace.
I trace, go for it, devour and munch life, you guessed it!
Welcome to my world, imbued with a touch of sweet madness and endearing eccentricity.
